Made by the same builder as the legendary Roland RE-201 Space Echo, the Boss RE-202 doesn't just offer the same features as the original unit but piles on various modern extras. Besides a tap tempo and the option to store and recall 127 presets via MIDI, this buffered bypass stompbox comes loaded with authentic stereo versions of the OG spring reverb, hall reverb, plate, room and ambience effects, as well multi-head tape echo sounds with an extensive delay time. Twelve unique echo combos can be shaped via the classic three-head configuration plus an additional tape head and, while the RE-202 obviously doesn't come equipped with real reels of tape, the simulation of the 'Wow & Flutter' and the 'Tape Age' effects is impressive to say the least. You're also free to toggle between the dry signal, the clean signal and the wet signal of the original Space Echo preamp; store configurations in one of the four integrated FX banks; or hook up a MIDI controller or expression pedal.

Très bon son comme l'appareil original des années 60 .
Super toffe tape delay. Het geluid is onwijs goed en valt goed in de mix.
Incredible piece of kit. The sounds from this are everything you dreamed they would be and the build quality is, well, Boss! Can't praise it enough.

One of the dissappointed who hadd ordered this pre-release and was let down by worldwide stock shortages and a delayed release dates. I gave up eventually. However, I finally got one and am impressed. Influencers often gloss over shortcomings, and a few gripes started coming out as people realised the few quirks that flawed an otherwise gleaming product. The most glaring of these is the functionality of the reverbs. Boss stepped up, and have provided a hefty firmware update, which makes them esier to access, rather than having to reboot and assign just one of the 5 reverbs globally. I was unawre of this update (which is preinstalled in new units), and am really excited. there are other issues addressed such as how the preamp model is applied (globally, true bypass or just the repeats). Also included is a way of adjusting the functionaliry of the WARP switch - I'm going to dial the effect down to a more subtle level. The tap tempo is a bit quirky, but I've going to investigate the hidden setting to make it more intuative (for me) to use. The thing sounds absolutely amazing and is useful in many styles of music. its an inspiration machine, and a credible live tool. I LOVE IT!! looking forward to discovering the expression fuctionality. I havent dabbled with the MiDi side of it yet, but it seems to have all bases covered; just hope its not too complicated!
